About Me
Hello! I’m Sophie and I like to make little freaks.
My core skills are illustration, animation and concept art, I started out as a concept artist in the games industry working on character, creature, costume, and prop design.
I then moved into 2D animation working on both long and short form projects, followed by a creative assistant role acting in design, editing, research & outreach. I’ve also worked as an illustrator since 2018, creating art for print, screen and textiles.
On my own time I've messed around with making a 2D platformer, sculpting a mantis creature, screen printing my own T-shirts, and right now I'm building a bird puppet. I’m all about getting hands on and learning how to make everything I possibly can. I've also dabbled in creating 2D game assets and animating in virtual reality, with a bit of self taught 3D along the way.
I'm really into practical FX and puppetry, shows like The Dark Crystal and Farscape inspired me to take up polymer clay sculpting and 3D printing to design a few of my own.
Zoology and underwater wildlife is another big interest of mine, so much that I learned to scuba dive (anything for a good reference pic). I'm especially fond of the deep sea freaky looking guys! My enthusiasm for marine-life often worms its way into my work.
